The world is sometimes a scary place for members of our LGBTQ community. They experience bullying, harassment, and sometimes become victims of crime, targeted for simply being who they are.
The VPD Safe Place program offers people shelter if they are feeling unsafe — a place where they will be welcomed, they can call police, and wait until officers arrive.
If you are a business, school, or other institution that wants to take part in this program and help make everyone feel safe in Vancouver, join the VPD Safe Place program. By placing a decal in your window, you will be clearly identifying your premise as a safe haven for members of our LGBTQ community.
The mission of the VPD Safe Place initiative is to increase safety for the members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community by providing a safe place if they are a victim of crime or have any concern for their personal safety.
